Simple Ingredients Done Right
Through a patient-centered, research-driven process, our team developed a new class of patent-pending products for people with irritated skin and scalps to find relief, without the use of treatments with comparatively high-risk for similar results. Our novel micro-biotic preparation acknowledges an obvious truth: fighting both biology and consumer preference is a losing battle.
Understanding the field
While many ideas start with a hunch, we needed to build a foundation of rigorous research before we could move forward. Given the potential medical applications of our work, this emphasis was matched with early and frequent contact with the FDA, including an IND application to ensure compliance and approvals as we took the long road of medical research and development.
When you come to a fork in the road, take it
When developing a new technology, end-user applications are not always cut and dried. We needed to pursue multiple paths simultaneously to both understand possible outcomes, as well as to be prepared to move forward quickly. Integrating design thinking into these parallel pipelines has been essential to this fluidity. Through highly iterative testing of product delivery methods, schedules, and formulations, in terms of user acceptability, we were able to hone in on a viable business model and effective solution.
Stretching from Hypotheticals
Moving the many potential forms of this technology forward has taught me at least as many new skills. I have researched and authored patents, written grants, created promotional materials, designed research protocols, prototyped formulations, and conducted user testing and interviews. Through this engagement, my most important responsibility was to integrate these functions to ensure deadlines and user needs were both met. While a significant challenge, bringing together novel technologies to improve quality of life is it's own reward.
